Outdoor Playwork Volunteer

An exciting opportunity has became available for volunteers to join us to support our partnership working with the local nurseries in Drumchapel. We will be delivering outdoor play and learning opportunities within the Drumchapel wooded areas, this will involve making shelters, playing on hammocks, using ropes, clay and imagination allowing children to explore their environment.

Opportunities to volunteer are available for individuals during the following times:

Tues 08:45 to 12:00, 12:45 to 16:00
Wed 08:45 to 12:00, 12:45 to 16:00
Thur 08:45 to 12:00, 12:45 to 16:00
Fri 08:45 to 12:00, 12:45 to 16:00

You may volunteer for one, several or all of these sessions.
The opportunity will run until June 2018.
There are good bus links to and from the area and Drumchapel has a nearby train station. Volunteers will meet at Drumchapel Community Centre, then walk to Drumchapel Woods, via the relevant nursery (around a 10 minute walk).
Once you have applied, we will meet for a chat where you will be given more information, after this we will ask for 2 references and you will be required to join the PVG scheme (this is free of charge for volunteers).
PLEASE NOTE: This opportunity will require PVG membership. Don't worry, we will talk to you about that and help with the application. There will be no cost to the volunteer for this procedure.

Volunteers will be provided with travel expenses and uniform, meet new people and feel a part of the community.

As the majority of this work will be based outdoors, we are looking for volunteers who have interest in this area. Equipment will need to be transported to and from the woods, so a degree a physical fitness is required. Some experience or an interest in working with children would be beneficial but not essential. Important attributes are good communication skills, happy to engage in teamwork, flexibility and willingness to carry out a variety of tasks relevant to the role. It is important that we recruit volunteers who are able to commit to the role on a weekly basis.
